The Camden County Miracle League, which offers opportunities for children with disabilities to engage in baseball, has experienced a setback. Last weekend, a theft occurred at Boundless Field, where equipment such as bats and balls were stolen from the storage area.
Commissioner Deputy Director Ed McDonnell expressed his dismay regarding the theft. “Last weekend, the Camden County Miracle League was the victim of theft when someone stole bats and balls out of the storage room at Boundless Field. While this was a shocking and disappointing incident, the community response has been unbelievable.”
Despite the incident, the community quickly rallied. McDonnell highlighted the rapid response from residents: “Within hours, donations came pouring in. Residents from all over the county came together rapidly to donate money, new equipment and offer words of love and encouragement.”
The Miracle League’s impact in Camden County extends beyond sports; it embodies principles of equity and inclusion by providing children with disabilities the chance to participate in baseball alongside their peers. McDonnell notes, “Each weekend throughout the spring, hundreds of children and their families get to spend time on Boundless Field, a facility built specifically for people with special needs, making beautiful memories that will last a lifetime.”
As the investigation into the theft continues, McDonnell emphasized the importance of the community’s role and spirit, stating their gratitude: “But, for now, we want to express our immense gratitude to the Camden County community for their love and support and thank them for coming together to show that the Miracle League matters to them.”
The investigation remains ongoing to address the incident and seek justice for the Camden County Miracle League.
