Legislation sponsored by Senator Robert Singer (R-Monmouth, Ocean) aimed at recruiting and retaining more healthcare professionals in New Jersey has advanced in the Senate Health, Human Services and Senior Citizens Committee. The bill proposes student-loan repayment and tuition assistance as incentives for individuals to enter and remain in the healthcare workforce.

“Many people are dissuaded from entering the healthcare field because of the massive debt that accrues just to earn the required education,” said Senator Singer. “By providing much-needed student-loan relief, we can make healthcare careers more accessible in New Jersey while rewarding the professionals who commit to serving our communities.”

The proposed legislation would create the Public-Private Alliance to Retain Talent and Expand Regional Health Program. This program would award grants for student loans and tuition assistance to qualified recipients who agree to work at participating hospitals for a minimum of three years.

Senator Singer has previously supported similar measures. In an earlier legislative session, his bill expanding loan forgiveness for certain healthcare workers was signed into law.

Senator Anthony M. Bucco is also active in state legislative efforts, holding positions such as Senate Republican Leader and chairing the Senate Judiciary Committee. He serves on both the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee and represents New Jersey’s 25th Legislative District. Bucco provides constituent services through his district office and email, sponsors bills, co-sponsors legislation, and participates in committee discussions on important state matters (official website).
