Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli Jr. joined Bellmawr Mayor Chuck Sauter, councilmembers, and local students on May 28 to present Bellmawr Borough with a $25,000 Camden County Recreation Grant. The presentation took place during Bellmawr’s Student Government Day, an event that allows local eighth graders to observe the workings of local government. The grant will support improvements at the Bellmawr Recreation Center and benefit the Bellmawr Recreation League.

Bellmawr has collaborated with Camden County over several years to improve its recreational facilities. In the past 12 years, more than $350,000 in county recreation grants have been invested in greenspaces and parkland within the borough.

“Presenting this grant on Student Government Day underscores the roles local and county government play in improving quality of life for our residents,” said Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli Jr. “This recreation grant is an investment in these students, their friends and families, and in the future of all Bellmawr families.”

Camden County supports over 500,000 residents across 37 municipalities through services such as public safety, health programs, transportation initiatives, economic development projects, education efforts, workforce development opportunities, parks maintenance, libraries operation, nutrition centers management, and other public services, according to the official website.

The Board of Commissioners consists of seven members serving staggered three-year terms, according to Camden County.
