The Camden County Department of Health and Human Services has teamed up with Genesis Counseling Center to launch a free support group for residents. The initiative, named Healing Together, aims to provide a therapeutic environment where participants can find hope and resilience.

Commissioner Virginia Betteridge emphasized the importance of accessibility in mental health services: “We understand that for many people, mental health services are often out of reach due to cost or other obstacles, and we recognized a great need for this type of service here in Camden County.” She expressed hope that the group would enable residents to heal without financial burden.

The program is designed to offer peer connection, emotional support, psychoeducation, coping strategies, encouragement, and tools for building a healthier life. Colleen Snow from the Office of Mental Health & Addiction stated: “Healing Together supports community wellness and prevention by creating a space where individuals can openly navigate challenges like substance use, grief, or emotional stress.”

Addressing various needs such as grief, loss, substance abuse impacts, relationship issues, anxiety, depression, PTSD among others will be part of the group’s focus. Commissioner Betteridge noted that the group is open to anyone seeking understanding and healing: “This space is also open for those who just want to feel understood… it is open to anyone and everyone who is looking to heal.”

Meetings will occur every Monday at 6 p.m. at Genesis Counseling Center in Collingswood. Interested individuals can contact (856) 858-9314 or (856) 374-6368 for more details.

Barry T. Bailey from Genesis Counseling Centers encouraged participation: “Everyone experiences life challenges… join the group and become part of our village.”
