A man from Camden County, New Jersey, has admitted to conspiring to distribute more than five kilograms of cocaine and possessing a firearm. This was announced by U.S. Attorney Alina Habba.
Rasheed Amin, aged 46 and residing in Voorhees, New Jersey, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Christine P. O’Hearn. He was charged with one count of conspiracy to distribute more than five kilograms of cocaine and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Court documents reveal that in 2024, Amin traveled multiple times from Philadelphia to cities in the western United States to obtain cocaine for distribution. He then mailed parcels containing the drug to his residence in Voorhees and other locations across New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York. On October 29, 2024, law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at Amin’s home where they found several kilograms of cocaine along with a loaded firearm. Amin admitted to owning both the drugs and the weapon.
The charge related to cocaine distribution carries a mandatory minimum sentence of ten years imprisonment with the possibility of life imprisonment and up to $10 million in fines. The firearm possession charge could result in up to fifteen years imprisonment and a $250,000 fine. Sentencing is set for November 13, 2025.
U.S. Attorney Habba acknowledged the efforts of inspectors and task force officers from the U.S. Postal Inspection Service’s Philadelphia Division under Inspector in Charge Christopher Nielsen for their investigation leading to Amin’s guilty plea. She also credited Homeland Security Investigations Newark led by Special Agent Ricky J. Patel; Camden County Police Department under Chief Gabriel Rodriguez; and Cherry Hill Police Department under Chief John Ostermueller for their assistance.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeffrey Bender represents the government in this case.
