The Camden County Library System has introduced a new service to support local residents by hiring a full-time social worker. This initiative aims to provide free and confidential assistance in areas such as housing, food, employment, utility bills, senior resources, healthcare, mental health counseling referrals, and more.
T’Keyah Hose will serve as the library’s social worker and will visit all branches monthly to offer these services. Commissioner Virginia Betteridge highlighted the importance of this addition: “The Camden County Library’s addition of a full-time social worker demonstrates our commitment to meeting residents where they are and addressing their immediate needs.” She emphasized that the library is not just for books but serves as “a pillar of community support.”
Library Director Linda A. Devlin noted the importance of providing a safe place for community members facing various challenges: “By having a full-time social worker on staff, we can connect individuals with the resources they need to thrive.”

This service launch aligns with National Social Work Month in March, which celebrates Social Worker Appreciation Day on March 19th. The library acknowledges the significant role social workers play in strengthening communities.
