Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli Jr. joined Camden Mayor Victor Carstarphen and Subaru of America on Apr. 22 for a community cleanup event at Pyne Poynt Park in celebration of Earth Day.
The event marked the official start of the sixth year of the Camden Strong-Clean Camden Campaign, an initiative aimed at improving neighborhood cleanliness and community engagement. City Council members, representatives from the Camden County Police Department, Department of Public Works, Fire Department, and numerous local organizations also participated alongside hundreds of volunteers.
“There couldn’t be a better way to be of service in our community than rolling up our sleeves on Earth Day and cleaning up our parkland,” Cappelli said. “Seeing the outpouring of assistance from our corporate partners, stakeholders and neighbors provides us with the capacity we need to make a real difference in the North Camden neighborhood.”
Throughout the 2026 cleanup season, staff from the City’s Department of Public Works will collect debris and large trash items at scheduled events. Residents will have access to information about recycling programs, e-waste disposal, trash management, litter prevention efforts, as well as other city services. The campaign will continue through spring and summer with eleven more neighborhood cleanups planned along with a cemetery cleanup.
