On April 26th, the Board of Commissioners and the Camden County Certified Gardeners organized their annual plant sale, offering a range of perennials, herbs, vegetables, and more. The event took place at the Sustainability Campus on Lakeland Road in Blackwood, operating from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., regardless of weather conditions.

Commissioner Jonathan Young, who is connected with the Office of Sustainability, commented on the event’s importance. “This event is highly anticipated each year, as it allows local gardeners to access a variety of plants at wonderful prices, so we encourage everyone to join us on Saturday,” said Young. He highlighted the benefits to the community from the extensive volunteer work conducted at the Lakeland complex greenhouses.

In addition to the variety of plants available for purchase, attendees had the opportunity to obtain a six-pack of native plants during the sale. Young emphasized the role of native plants: “Planting native species is essential to maintaining biodiversity and preserving the environment. We encourage our gardeners to pick up a pack of native plants to help support native species here in Camden County.”
