The Board of Commissioners of Camden County held the 26th annual High School Golf Commissioners Cup at ValleyBrook Golf Course on Tuesday. This event gathered schools from across the county, each sending up to four players to compete in the tournament, showcasing skill and sportsmanship.
The competition featured 17 boys’ teams and 5 girls’ teams vying for team and individual awards. In the boys’ individual category, the winners were Mac Weldon from Highland High School, Jack Kelly-Lyons from Camden Catholic High School, and Matthew Duphorn from Paul VI High School. In the girls’ individual category, the winners were Sophia Greenwood from Paul VI High School, Loren Pryor from Eastern High School, and Annalise Capoli from Paul VI High School.
In team competitions, the top awards in the boys’ category went to Cherry Hill East High School, Camden Catholic High School, and Eastern High School. Paul VI High School and Haddonfield High School were the leading teams in the girls’ competition.
“These students showed great talent on the course and really gave it their all,” said Commissioner Deputy Director Ed McDonnell. “This event always brings out the best in the community and in these student-athletes. We commend all the participants and are already excited for next year’s tournament.”
The tournament highlighted the dedication and aptitude of young athletes within the community, as reflected in the positive remarks from officials.
