The Gateway to College program at Camden County College will hold its graduation ceremony for 48 students from Camden City and Pennsauken Township.
“This initiative demonstrates the Commissioner Board’s and the College’s commitment to educational opportunities in Camden County,” said Commissioner Deputy Director Ed McDonnell, liaison to Camden County College. “It gives students a unique opportunity to get back on an educational track by earning a diploma and college credit concurrently. Most importantly, the program is designed specifically to cater to the needs of the individual student to promote their success.”
The Gateway to College program at Camden County College is a dual credit program, which provides a second chance for students (16 to 20 years of age) from Camden City and Pennsauken Township, who may have stopped out of school or have fallen behind on credits needed for graduation. It provides an opportunity for students to complete their high school requirements in a collegiate environment and earn college credits at the same time, which can be used towards a college degree or a professional certificate.
“In addition to helping them finish high school, the program helps them begin working toward their future career goals,” McDonnell said. “Students in the program are encouraged to participate in the College’s extracurricular activities while earning college credits – all in a collegiate environment.”
The Camden Gateway to College Program at Camden County College has received eight consecutive national Performance Excellence Awards from the Gateway to College / Achieving the Dream National Network.
