Camden County announces road closures and construction for week of March 23

Several roadway projects are scheduled across Camden County during the week of March 23 to March 27, according to a statement released on Mar. 20. The Department of Public Works will oversee work in multiple municipalities, with various full and partial road closures planned.

The upcoming construction is expected to impact travel throughout the county, requiring motorists to plan alternate routes and allow extra time for their commutes. Commissioner Al Dyer, liaison to the Department of Public Works, said, “Motorists should plan ahead to take alternate routes and give themselves plenty of time to get to their destinations. Also, remember that when you’re traveling through a construction area, please slow down and stay alert for crew members and debris.”

Projects include South Jersey Gas work on Hopewell Road and Cooper Road in Berlin Township and Waterford from Monday through Wednesday with full closures at different segments each day. In Camden, Haddon Avenue will be closed between Newton Avenue and Euclid Avenue from Monday through Friday, while New Jersey American Water will close River Avenue between Federal Street and East State Street from Wednesday through Friday. Additional projects are set for Cherry Hill’s Kresson Road (partial westbound closure), Collingswood’s Park Avenue (full closure), Laurel Springs’ East Atlantic Avenue (full closure), Pine Hill’s West Branch Avenue (partial eastbound closure), Voorhees Township’s White Horse Road (partial northbound closure), Winslow Township’s New Brooklyn Road (full closure) and Mays Landing Road (partial northbound closure).

The Camden County Department of Public Works maintains over 1,200 miles of county roads, more than 200 bridges, as well as several dams. The department is based in Lindenwold with personnel available around the clock for county residents.

Camden County supports over 500,000 residents across 37 municipalities according to the official website. Its operations extend throughout southern New Jersey under a seven-member Board of Commissioners who serve staggered three-year terms according to the official website.
