Today, the Senate Transportation Committee approved a bill introduced by Senate Republican Leader Anthony M. Bucco aimed at improving customer service at the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (MVC). The legislation focuses on providing residents with live support for online transactions.

“As more services move online, it’s important that we make the MVC experience as smooth and accessible as possible,” stated Sen Bucco. “This legislation would enhance customer service by ensuring residents have access to live support when they need help with online transactions. It’s a common-sense step that will make it easier for New Jerseyans to get their tasks done quickly and efficiently, and on with their daily lives.”

The proposed bill, known as S-1021, mandates the New Jersey MVC to operate a telephone call center within the state. This center would have commission employees available from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays to assist customers in navigating the MVC’s website and processing online transactions.
