Senate Republican Leader Anthony M. Bucco and Senate Republican Budget Officer Declan O’Scanlon released a joint statement in response to recent developments concerning healthcare premiums for public workers in New Jersey.

“Despite the lack of transparency or details from the Murphy Administration, it’s clear the Democrats’ health insurance plan means increased property taxes and big premium increases for public employees. Meanwhile, the local benefits death spiral is being left to the next governor to fix,” said Bucco and O’Scanlon.

The lawmakers expressed concern about how changes to public worker healthcare could affect both property taxes and employee costs. They also criticized what they described as insufficient information from Governor Phil Murphy’s administration regarding the specifics of the plan.
