Senate Republican Leader Anthony M. Bucco (R-25) has criticized the legislative priorities of Democrats in New Jersey, expressing concern that they are not addressing the state’s affordability issues. In a statement, Bucco drew a comparison to Groundhog Day, suggesting that residents continue to face recurring financial difficulties without relief.
“It must be Groundhog Day in New Jersey. Families are stuck reliving the same affordability nightmare day after day, and Democrats’ urgent lame-duck priority is importing woodchucks,” said Sen. Bucco. “Trenton needs to open its eyes and face the affordability crisis impacting our families and seniors. Lowering costs should be our top priority—like my bill to roll back the sales tax to 6%—and chucking priorities that don’t meet that simple standard.”
Bucco highlighted his proposal to reduce the state sales tax from its current rate to 6% as an example of measures he believes would help address economic challenges for residents and seniors.
