Senate Republican Leader Anthony M. Bucco (R-25) co-chaired the inaugural NJ Legislative Home Care Caucus today, aimed at identifying opportunities to support home care services for children, adults, and seniors across New Jersey.
“I’m honored to be one of the Co-Chairs of the inaugural NJ Legislative Home Care Caucus,” said Sen. Bucco. “Home care is an incredibly important topic in New Jersey and it is vital that we give children, adults, and seniors across the state the ability to live comfortably and safely within their own homes while receiving the care they need. I look forward to working with my fellow Co-Chairs and industry experts to help make home care an accessible and affordable reality for the thousands of New Jersey residents that need this option.”
The other Co-Chairs of the New Jersey Home Care Caucus are Senator Gordon Johnson, Assemblywoman Carol Murphy, and Assemblywoman Nancy Munoz.
The NJ Legislative Home Care Caucus will focus on policies supporting families while educating lawmakers about the nation’s caregiving crisis. The caucus aims to raise awareness about challenges faced by family caregivers and bring attention to issues affecting caregivers from various backgrounds. According to a news release from Dingell, nearly 20 million US adults require assistance with daily activities due to physical, cognitive, developmental or behavioral conditions, with 53 million family caregivers contributing $600 billion worth of care annually.
The caucus plans to engage with a broad array of stakeholders including older adults, service providers, paid caregivers, employers, people with disabilities, long-term care insurance industry representatives, private and public payers, government officials, researchers and technology vendors.
