The Senate Military and Veterans’ Affairs Committee has advanced legislation sponsored by Senate Republican Leader Anthony M. Bucco (R-25) to invest in the New Jersey SOS Veterans Stakeholders Group, aimed at assisting veterans with various services.
“Far too many of our nation’s veterans struggle with homelessness, unemployment, and inadequate housing. By making this critical investment in the New Jersey SOS Veterans Stakeholders Group, we can ensure that this coalition continues to provide the vital support and services that our veterans deserve,” said Sen. Bucco. “This bill is a testament to our commitment to give back to the brave men and women who served our country to protect our freedoms.”
The New Jersey SOS Veterans Stakeholders Group (NJSOSVETS) is a coalition of individuals and organizations in North New Jersey that assists veterans with emergency transportation, housing, mental health and medical care, clothing, employment, and advocates for legislation on behalf of veterans and their families. The group also holds community events and seminars to raise awareness about veteran suicide prevention and connect veterans to various resources.
Senator Bucco’s bill, S-3188, would provide a supplemental appropriation of $500,000 to the Department of Veterans and Military Affairs to ensure that veterans continue to receive the necessary support and services provided by NJSOSVETS.
