Governor Phil Murphy has signed into law a bill sponsored by Senator Jon Bramnick (R-21) that aims to reduce healthcare costs for New Jersey residents. The legislation requires insurance companies to count discounts negotiated for prescription drugs toward patients’ out-of-pocket maximums.
“Too many New Jerseyans are paying more than they should for healthcare, even when they do everything right,” said Sen. Bramnick. “This commonsense measure ensures that insurer-negotiated discounts count toward a patient’s out-of-pocket maximum, ultimately lowering costs and making healthcare more affordable for patients across the state.”
The full text of the bill, S-3818/A-5217, is available online.
