The Battleship New Jersey Museum and Memorial in Camden, NJ, hosted the First Annual Sporting Clay Invitational on its deck. The event attracted 80 competitors, including enthusiasts, veterans, and corporate teams. Participants engaged in a 50-clay preliminary round followed by two elimination rounds using a custom-built trap layout from Cedar Creek Sporting Clays.
The competition aimed to support the preservation of the Battleship New Jersey and its educational mission. The day included live music and cigar rolling as additional attractions.
After the initial round, four teams advanced to a 24-clay playoff. The top two teams then competed in the Championship Round with another 24-clay shootout. The Troopers United Foundation emerged victorious in the team category with scores of 132/200 in the preliminary round, 68/96 in the playoff round, and 68/96 in the championship round.
David Budd from Spartan Digital Team was recognized as the top individual shooter with a score of 44 out of 50 clays.
Marshall Spevak, CEO of the Battleship New Jersey, stated: “We are incredibly proud to have hosted such a unique event aboard the Battleship. It was a day of competition, connection, and community — and we look forward to making this an annual tradition.”
